We are working on application of in vitro multi-cellular tissue culture in micro fluidic devices to recapitulate microphysiological environment in our body. Formation of blood vessel structure by endothelial cells is one of the representative cases of micorophysiological systems (MPS). In vascular MPS, suspended endothelial cells in hydrogel composed of extracellular matrices such as collagen autonomously form lumen structure. This system is expected as an in vitro blood vessel model with a variety for application such as test model to understand their reaction to mechanical stimulation or test bed for drug screening.
