His work focuses on the modeling and control of fusion plasma, which is a typical complex system, for the realization of a magnetic confinement fusion reactor. As shown in the figure below, he is developing a system model to predict the behavior of the fusion plasma and an analysis and control system using the model. In particular, he is developing techniques for extracting and modeling common properties from a large number of experimental data and techniques for adaptive predictive control of the fusion plasma by applying integrated simulation, data assimilation, and data-driven science.
